Saturday 3 August

1pm-2pm It’s not what they do, it’s how they do it: developing screen stories

Story development workshop with Dr Christine Rogers

Think you have a great idea for the big or small screen, but are not sure how to create strong and engaging characters? Unlike novels, we don’t usually have access to the internal thoughts of on-screen characters. They reveal themselves not through what they think, but what they do. Find out how to design characters that jump off the page and propel story-worlds.

Rangebow MicroFilm Community Workshop (just 15 pre-booked places @$20 available)

Christine Rogers is a Ngāi Tahu/Pākehā academic, filmmaker and textile artist with multiple screen credits in drama, essay films, educational videos and digital stories that have screened at local and international festivals. She holds a PhD from RMIT University, and her writing has been published in journals, anthologies, newspapers, and blogs. Christine has held teaching positions at RMIT University, Victoria College of the Arts, and Queen’s University, Belfast. She is currently media production lecturer at The University of the Sunshine Coast. Discover more about Christine CLICK HERE
